Claire McGlynn: TOGETHER WE ARE TRUE STRENGTH
Claire Mc Glynn is a runner who runs with DSD Athletic Club. She has competed in athletics since she was 11 years old and was National Junior and Under 23 Champion in the 400m as well as gaining many other titles in the sprint events.
In 2008 Claire injured her left hamstring, and finally, after an average of 3 hours of rehab work a day for two years, she was able to run again in 2010. However, the injury still lingered a little, so she trained for and competed in the longer distance of the 800m to take the pressure off the injury.
Even though she did very well in the 800m in 2011’s season, she still couldn’t train 100% as her leg would react painfully to intense speed sessions. Claire is currently moving her focus to Olympic Lifting and Cross Fit as this training does not affect the injured area.
She still runs with her DSD group twice a week and is in the gym 6-8 times a week, training 100% on her new challenges!
